Transition Town Totnes Business and Livelihoods Group

On the evening of Monday the 28th we are reconvening our Business and Livelihoods meeting with the proposal that:

The TTT Business and Livelihoods Group will act as an incubator for ideas that need the leap into business development and create the conditions for all social/community enterprise ideas generated by the TTT Groups and others in the town to flourish. The group will also provide existing local businesses and organisations with the information and services they need to help them understand the risks of continuing a 'business-as-usual' model, understand which options will reduce these risks, and make them more likely to thrive in the future. It will also create a network of support between social and local businesses.

The focus we are giving this work is: Re-localisation as Economic Development inviting people to come and shape a more sustainable, equitable economy and help build the resilience of Totnes against the external shocks of economic uncertainty, rising fuel prices and climate change.

I will post again following the meeting to share the outcomes of this meeting.

I am pleased to say that our business and livelihoods group was well attended with some completely new members and others that were on the list but hadn't attended for quite some time. The attendees were also from a cross section of the community and there were people representing the Chamber of Commerce, a long standing manufacturing company, a participatory arts company, some looking to start enterprises and others coming to see how they could support this process.
