I will never forget the first time I saw, in a primary school textbook, a telling photograph of a giant landfill site in Spain. An aerial view showed a huge crater scarring the dusty Murcian landscape, open to the elements, and lined with goodness knows how many protective sheets of industrial strength polythene. At the time the photograph was taken, the ugly gash was approximately half full.
We are currently trying to put a group/initiative together. We are planning on starting a "raising awareness" campaign in conjunction with learning more about the specific needs of our community, so we can address those as a group. Actively recruiting members.
I am a former software engineer and company director. After what most would consider as a breakdown, after years of being depressed by this inhuman system, I have left the rat race to pursue a perma-culture life style. I now recycle tenaciously (which is not the art of putting used materials into a green coloured bin, but reusing such materials in diverse ways).
