About

Transition Town Cheltenham aims to empower ourselves and others to improve the quality of life in the town and make a reduced impact on the outside world, whilst looking after the environment and each other.

We are local people coming together to develop and re-learn skills and co-operative ways of working, such as growing our own food, enjoying nature, planting fruit trees, making houses warm and draught-proof, buying local food, turning spare material into new clothes, making the town greener and more pleasant and many other activities. This gives hope for the future because, as energy prices rise, these are the kind of activities that will fulfil our needs and support the local population. The activities are organised by Action Groups which focus on different aspects of transition such as food, energy, creative crafts, transport and the psychological aspect of finding meaning and satisfaction in life.
