Working in nature conservation, I have always been interested in environmental issues. I have been part of Transition Worcester for about a year now, initially as part of the Food Group, as I am keen to get more people growing some of their own food and using more local produce. I have now been sucked into Transport as well!

Trees for Transition and Big Society?

Remember that windy woodland walk in Devon at the UK Transition Conference 2010?

Robin Walters' woodland ramble was a highlight of the conference for many people. There's a real hunger out there for people to understand woodlands and trees in general and how to work with them and help them thrive.

Devon communities get help growing their own

The Community Council of Devon has assembled three 'toolkits' to help food groups across Devon with doing their thing.

You can find these handy sounding toolkits online, or read more information about some case studies on their site. Here's their press release:

As of today, groups across Devon who want to grow their own food will be able to get help from three new toolkits, launched by the Community Council of Devon (CCD) [1]. The 3 toolkits, developed with help from the Soil Association [2] as part of the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project, cover Legal Tenure, Planning and Access issues and are intended to help communities when they set up new food growing projects

UK Land use in the 1930's

This could be a useful web resource for studying historial land use.  Created by Sir Dudley Stamp with the help of school children, it maps UK land use prior to World War 2.  If anyone can find the key for land use types please let us know!
