On New Mills Community Orchard Management Committee.

Previously Chair of Fairtrade New Mills.

Had a short stint on New Mills Town Council, but the petty politics got the better of me.

Volunteer as a Village Energy Assessor to advise on heat loss from buildings, especially those 'off-grid' and where the inhabitants are struggling to meet fuel bills.

A small group of us – all local residents – came together in the autumn of 2009 to form Holmfirth Transition Town Initiative (HoTT), and we held our first public meeting in February 2010. Our approach is positive and enjoyable, and over the last two years we have run a number of successful public events. Our numbers are growing, and we are keen for others to join us.

Working in nature conservation, I have always been interested in environmental issues. I have been part of Transition Worcester for about a year now, initially as part of the Food Group, as I am keen to get more people growing some of their own food and using more local produce. I have now been sucked into Transport as well!
