My name is Rita Couto and I moved from Brazil to the U.S. in 2007. I'm a Brazilian lawyer that discovered a deep passion for the studies and practices of sustainable development. In 2009 I started a process of self-discovery and inner transition that took me to a journey of awareness and consciousness.
After returning from Findhorn, Scotland in May or 2011 and experiencing the Findhorn Community and EcoVillage http://www.findhorn.org , I began studying the Peak Oil question with action and activities in mind. I have developed a plan to manage a Transition Center called EcoVillages of Cape Cod.
Transition Derwent meets monthly at the New Norfolk library - see events on our website for details.
Transition Derwent is a group of individuals working to increase the resilience of our community so that we can enjoy a prosperous lifestyle when the cost of petrol rises beyond our budgets.
Transition Towns Albury Wodonga is the name adopted by an unincorporated collection of sustaianbility groups formerly known as the Albury Wodonga Sustainability Alliance. These groups include Wodonga-Albury Toward Climate Health (WATCH), Pedal Power, Seedsavers Network, Steiner Playgroup, Border Eco Living Program (BELP), Gateway Community Health and project called StreetHarvest. Our two local councils have been very supportive but we hope to engage with them much more as go along.
