I am from Hameln (Germany) and a few years ago I became interested in off-grid living and permaculture. After looking around for a couple years mainly in the US and Costa Rica, I am now off to manage my transition into a lifestyle away from the daily grind of a 9-5 job and living the "american dream" in suburbia.

What goes around comes around or the importance of composting toilets

It’s not difficult to get my dad talking about the past and the first story he remembered about times before flush toilets was a tale about his brother and his friend who snuck round the back of the earth closets in their Lake District village. Via the back entrance they took delight in brandishing stinging nettles at the backside of some local character named Mad Jack!

My personal transition started several years ago when with a group of friends we started an ecovillage initiative near Timisoara, the western part of Romania. Meanwhile together with more and more dear friends we are part of several communities seeking to live a meaningful life.
