Syndication and Social Media

Introduction

This is a page to explain where else we live on the web; to provide the more 'social network-y' types with our social network locations, and the initiative webmasters among you with tools to connect your sites with ours, and the most popular feeds to embed on your sites and aggregators. universe picture

As Transition Network, this site is where we look after the core information about the movement (initiatives, people, projects, patterns, etc.).

But we don't see this site as at the centre of the universe; we see it as part of the 'Transition constellation', alongside all the other national hubs, social networks, eco-portals, initiative websites, mobile applications etc. And you've told us the best place to do 'social networking' is face to face in your neighbourhood, so we're building the web platform to support that as much as possible.

This page is a pointer to the various places we are around the web, and some handy widgets you can add to your sites so your groups can see what's going on around the movement from the comfort of your own sites... it's the beginning of much more, so dig in, add a widget, syndicate some content, let us know what you think...

Web Widgets for your site

Hearing about other initiatives and projects and events is a great way to build energy and action in your own community. We learnt that from you.  So we've built some 'widgets' to put on your site that reflect what's going on in the constellation.

How about adding a handy widget or two with the latest news, events, and projects to your site?

Listed below are a selection of 'web widgets' that you can easily embed into your own website.  Choose from the Latest News, Latest Projects and Latest Events widgets and next to the screenshot picture examples, you can find the code to copy and paste into your own website.  The live widgets on your website will show the latest items in the topical section chosen as your widget and the item titles will link back to pages here on the Transition Network website.

Social Networks

We're out and about, up and down, in the following places. Subscribe, follow, read, be-friend, do you thing, you know what to do. Possibly the most important twitter activity is our initiative list, so if we're not following your initiative, or you know of an initiative we're not following please ask us on twitter. And we are always happy to hear of people to tweet or host these spaces, so email us if you fancy a bit of Facebook facilitation for example...
