Project Aim

 We are an internet based "Television" production co-operative located in Lake County California. We at TV8point1.org recognize that we are on the cusp of a revolution in many areas, global economics, food supply, energy supply, human relationships, health care, sustainable living and the list goes on and on. We also realize that if we are to thrive in what is sure to be a maelstrom over the next few years, we must prepare ourselves now.  It is to this end that the all volunteer staff of TV8point1.org has launched it's campaign to "Make Connections and Build Community". We believe that if we act as a "pivot point" and use our expertise and personal resources to bring together a network of other organizations within and without Lake County, that we can help to bring together a community of Lake County residents with the express purpose of taking care of our own needs with little or no "outside" intervention from government entities. At the same time we will be returning to the earth to once again live in harmony with nature not at odds with it. We welcome all information that leads to this end and look forward to working with organizations from around the globe with similar interests.  We create a network of businesses, private citizens and organizations by interviewing key folks in their areas of knowledge, expertise, or ability to provide a service to the community and post the shows on our online Video Magazine tv8point1.org-thepoint. We also provide a community site for other parties to post their videos. We are in the early stages of this so the content is a bit "disorganized" at the moment but we are working on cataloging and posting videos for subjects from all areas of life in Lake County and beyond. There will eventually be "how -to" videos on things like cooking, and canning, garden preparation, and related topics. Also on community events such as our Farmer's Market, concerts, fund raisers, local government and political news etc. How to go about attaining assistance for you, your family, or neighbors if the need arises. Sporting events from High School Sports to Rodeo and the like. "Everything Lake County" all with the express purpose of getting people to talk to one another and begin the monumental task of getting everyone to work together in a county wide, then world wide effort to get control of our own lives again. Inspiration

The founders of tv8point1.org began this project at our local PEG access channel provided by Mediacom and administered by the City of Clearlake. It became apparent that this arrangement was too restrictive and subject to the mechanations of government and their typical "bureaucratic red tape" nonsense. It was determined that the internet was a much "freer" environment and was not restricted by politicians. Sooooooo...

Outcomes so far

To date we have forged a working relationship with the PEG access channel and our live content is aired county-wide. Also with the Lake County Co-op and have begun working with them to promote their services along with our own agenda. We have gotten the word out about our existence and began to attract others who either want to help with the transition or just want to be involved with a group of focused positive individuals who do not know what "Can't" means.

Unexpected outcomes

I would have to say that while there have been "unexpected" events, they have been postive and we are making progress on a daily basis towards uniting the people that matter (the ones who want change and can see the handwriting on the wall as it were). The ones who do not, we simply love them and eagerly await their "awakening".

Obstacles, and how we overcame them

Well for starters, the entire project is based on volunteers and their personal resources, I.E. equipment such as computers, cameras, internet access and the like. Secondly none of these folks are professionally trained for what we do, we learn "on-the-fly" as it were. I went for an interview as a local singer songwriter and walked out one of the hosts! I have ran the camera and am learning editing, how to be a production assistant, and inteviewer/newsperson.

Lessons Learned

I would say to anyone who is considering doing "something" to "just do it"! If you sit by and wait for everything to be ready you will never get it done... We have learned so much and made so many new friends from this endeavor that it is impossible to look at it with anything other than a positive outlook.

at this point it is member funded, but we are working towards "fund-raiser" activities to help offset costs and make it more viable for us to do what we set out to do. We are adamant that their will be no "guvamint" intervention for "freedom" purposes.
