Description
Aims:
Set up a company in Lewes to help those in the Lewes District to improve energy efficiency, generate heat/power using micro generation, install community owned renewable power projects and share knowledge with other Transition Groups.
Further information:
OVESCO was set up by people who met at a Transition Towne Lewes open space event in 2007. The original company employ one part time administrator who worked with Lewes district Council to delivery 250 grants for microgeneration in the Lewes district and manage a free energy advice service helping around 1000 homes improve their insulation. In 2010 OVESCO Limited an Industrial & Provident Society for Community Benefit was set up and this company raised over £350,000 in a community share issue enabling the company to install PV arrays at four sites in the Lewes District. On by 31st July 2011 OVESCO had installed 98kWp at Harveys Brewery, 35kWp at Priory School, 9kWp at Barcombe Nursery and 19.5kWp at Brickyard Farm. OVESCO is now looking develop a large scale community energy project in the Lewes District and sharing its knowledge with others seeking to do the same. see www.ovesco.co.uk
