Project Aim

The Norreys Garden Share Scheme in Wokingham will matches committed and enthusiastic growers with local garden owners who want to see their gardens being used more productively.

Further details

Do you have a big garden that’s going to waste?
Is your garden underused, or unmanaged from a lack of time or physical mobility?
Do you want to grow your own fruit and vegetables in Wokingham but don't have the space? Are you thinking about taking on an allotment in Wokingham?
Do you want to learn some new skills and help in your local community?

Many people do not have access to land but would love the chance to grow their own food, herbs and flowers.

Growers
Will get the opportunity to cultivate a piece of land and learn new skills without spending years on a waiting list for an allotment.

Garden Owners
Will have the pleasure of seeing a lovely developing vegetable plot instead of a scruffy garden, receive a share of the produce and sense of community in being part of a sharing initiative. Why not let somebody else grow food in your garden and share what is produced?

Our team of mainstay volunteers will help by getting a plot ready for planting, and novice growers are not left without support. Linda and Alan have produced a fantastic starter guide, and continue to provide help and advice (and cut price seeds) for those who wish to grow on a shared plot.  Wokingham Town Council advertised the scheme to the allotment waiting list, but we still have plenty to offer.

We currently have 8 plots available to take on. Alan and Linda’s work is often praised by those in the Wokingham voluntary sector. Attached is a recent press cutting about their involvement in the inspirational Eustace Crescent Community Garden scheme.

If you, or someone else you know, wants to start growing this spring, please get in contact via transitionwokingham@yahoo.co.uk.  You’ll find a warm welcome.
