Unforseen setback
7 November 2010 - 4:58pm — Susan WestlakeThere was a 'bomb' scare which closed off the adjacent shopping centre and surrounding roads for four hours, which coincided with our event. Only a few people managed to reach us. So a lot of hard work and money spoilt by the overreaction of the police, who called in the bomb squad to carry out a controlled explosion, to a rucksack left on a bench by an elderly couple who had bought a new rucksack and left their old one on a bench. Apparently the cost of this exercise was a six-figure sum!
