Project Aim

GETI (Golden Ears Transition Initiative) is now two years old and is throwing a party for the community. We are celebrating our sucesses, raising awareness of the issues, showcasing our Action Groups, and becoming a recognizable organization in the wider community.

Further details

GETI FEST will be happening under the tents at Memorial Peace Park from noon to 9:00 pm, and will consist of five components.

Awareness Raising component to showcase our Action Groups

Artisan Fair local artisans and crafters with a renew, reuse, recycle theme

People In Motion Parade (walk, bike, skateboard, etc) (no fossil fuel powered vehicles)

community Barbeque featuring local and organic

a Dance.

Inspiration

We are coming into focus in the community and felt it was time to increase our visibility.

Outcomes so far

Building a strong connection to the local government and other organizations in the community. Creation of an event committee into a cohesive team.

Unexpected outcomes

The number of people who have joined our event committee and are willing to take on the necessary tasks required to put on an event of this size. The wish from the community to make this a yearly festival.

Obstacles, and how we overcame them

Time is the greatest challenge and we are managing to keep to our schedule by meeting every week to revue and schedule for the next week. It helps focus on bite sized tasks.

Lessons Learned

We will also document everything we do so we don't have to reinvent the wheel next time. If we do it again next year, we will start earlier.

Sources of Funding

Small government grant

Rotary Club grant

Grant from a local society, Boiling Point Action Network
