About Steve Clarke
I am just starting my 11 straight degree in the University of Life........after 4 years in the School of Hard Knocks........As I am still alive and well you can assume that I am still getting passing grades lol! and of course, that is the acid test....if you`re still standing at the end of the day! I am originally from the UK and grew up in those heady times of Ban the Bomb marches and the Vietnam War and Nixon.......These were formative years so I remain a life long activist for Social Justice, Peace, Empathy and Respect!.......to this day I maintain a Subversive(Garden)Plot! where I grow radical radishes, Marching Mint and Garlic Gurus....hahahahaha. I am a Barber by Profession, love my job, it`s a wonderful way to share Ideas, network and ...oh yes Chew the fat and Cut hair...not necessarily in that order. I volunteer a lot, I`m on the steering committee for the Bobcaygeon Farmers Market, I`ve just come off a 2 year position the Legacy Chest Fund Committee, was a founding member and board member for 10 years with SEAL (Sustainable, Ecological, Alternatives for Living) a member of KPOW (Kawartha Protect our Water) Lobbied the Kawartha Lakes for 6 years to adopt a pesticide no spray By-Law and I`m now active in Transition Town and have done a couple of presentations one called "Crash Course" by Chris Martenson and "Moving from Pyramidal Thinking to Circular thinking" I support the Settlers Village in Bobcaygeon by Operating a circa 1860 Barbershop on Settlers Day and acting as Sweeny Todd for the Halloween Night. In my spare time as a Musician I play and sing on Earth Day and at Gamiing for their Lakeshore Summer Music Festival and more recently for "FoodStock" a food and fund raiser for the local Food Bank. I grow a lot of my own food and I`m branching out into garlic growing, I put in 2500 cloves this year but hope to up that to about 10,000 over the next couple of years.
I`m also an avid kayaker and spend quite a bit of time on the local backwaters, I can tell you if you are a solo paddler in a canoe, you will love the versatility and comfort of a kayak on slow rivers and small lakes where the wind can change direction or come up suddenly and it`s lighter to carry! my kayak weighs in at around 15kg, I might consider giving lessons if anyone is interested?
