Sam Holt

I am a friendly person with a lot to offer. I have a love of gardening, nature, plants and their uses, and the complex interactions between them and the environment, animal husbandry (I have cats, ducks, chickens, and mealworms), and mushrooms in and outdoors and the amazing way they seem to be an integral part to joining the whole lifecycle together; my passions continue into the built environment, energies, recycling, waste managemt and useful practical skills. I try hard to build any connection within my local community from engaging with people who are curious about me walking my chickens to randomly having conversations with people in queues, as I miss having a community atmosphere here in the city that I once had in rural mid wales (Aberystwyth) and community I feel is integral to a successful future. I would class it all as permaculture.

I spent 4 years in medical school gaining many skills and knowledge before my mind said hold on a minute I can not cope with all this info at the moment. I am still working out my path but it has taken many interesting directions along its way from care work at all ages and abilities, Fruit and Veg stall and wholesale manager, to social research and internet based business. I am now looking at a bundle of options from Social Enterprise, Community engagement/development, to Waste managemt and alternative energy masters.

My long term partner Siobhan is my rock and sunshine(occassionally :-) ) in hard times, and I have a great disfunctional family who I can rely on when needed. My two nieces are very important to me and my extended family I am known merely as Uncle Sam.

Within transition movement I hope to help Cardiff transition and improve knowledge of activities amongst the community and build better networks between groups in and out of Cardiff. Part of this will be helping CFHub.org.uk reach a wider audience and maintain its strength and activity.
