About Martin Grimshaw

Was a founder member and later Chair of the tragically defunct Transition Brighton & Hove. Continue my relationships around the Transition community. I urge anyone to approach with caution anything that might arise calling itself 'Transition X...' in Brighton & Hove - the previous incarnation became an unsafe space, and some of the same people may well be involved.

Have attended Training For Transition twice, once as organiser, various Transition conferences and have helped to co-organise Transition Camp and the Transition South East Conference, as well as delivering many talks and workshops, such as Introduction To Transition, learning how to use Open Space, collaborative decision making, and offer organisational consultancy based on Collaborative Governance. Sign up for the low volume newsletter CoLaborative Times, news of DecisionLab and friends for coming workshops and cool stuff, such as Open Space and various tools for a smarter planet.

Very happy to discuss my ideas and strategy for Transition 2.0 in the city, which I feel strongly has to have a new name to have any chance of success. Please get in touch; I am especially keen to work with others who are highly qualified and highly able to maintain healthy and joyful working relationships, and have fun in the face of difficulty and huge challenge.

Very keen also to discuss Transition Enterprise:

Livelihoods2020 is a new initiative, but using the same name and similar vision as a now closed group, that was previously active within Transition Brighton and Hove. Tragically, that organisation is now defunct. This new vehicle seeks to continue that work independently, in harmony with other great projects around and beyond the Transition Network.

We are now seeking like minded people, with a strong understanding of the Transition Towns movement, nurturing new enterprise, community currency and exchange initiatives, driving business sustainability, obtaining funding, and are driven by the question of how they and others will find livelihoods in the low carbon economy. Some understanding of permaculture and the permaculture of business, organisations and communities an advantage, as is an understanding of the personal resilience we need to build to help us build economic resilience.

Must be able to demonstrate an ability to work in harmony, in a way that supports and empowers others, and have fun in the face of the scary stuff. Let's face the music and dance.

Although located and focussed on Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, we are connected with likeminded initiatives around London and the South East, and are not currently limited by location.
