Had a short stint on New Mills Town Council, but the petty politics got the better of me.

Volunteer as a Village Energy Assessor to advise on heat loss from buildings, especially those 'off-grid' and where the inhabitants are struggling to meet fuel bills.

Also a facilitator in the Derbyshire Eco-Teams project, helping people make more sustainable choices in their lifestyles.

I'm a member of Greenpeace, the Centre for Alternative Technology and Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, and hold shares in various community energy schemes including Torrs Hydro of course.

I am interested in all aspects of sustainability, but particularly buildings and energy, transport and local food.
