About Jim Kirkpatrick
UPDATE: I'm trying to bring Transition to my city, Winchester, with the help of the good folk at WinACC... Plans and negotiations are beginning...
I'm a web designer & developer from Winchester who wants to work with groups and companies trying to make the world a bit better. I likes mountain biking, my guitar, festivals, music of all kinds and good food. Done a bit of politics, had a 'proper job' for years and these days am happiest blazing a new trail with friends and clients I can support whilst trying to maintain that elusive 'work/life balance' I hear so much about.
Professionally I design, make, program, promote and consult on websites of all kinds, from this Transition Network site to other ones of all sizes, feature lists and styles. I love working with Drupal and am aiming for 'expert' status with it. I also regularly work in jQuery, MySQL, PHP, CSS and the 'classics' like HTML, XML and Linux. Please do get in touch if you're at all interested in working with me or just want to chat about opportunities... Ok, I've finished with the shameless self-promotion!
I'm very interested in local food, energy, Peak Oil and its mitigation, economics, transport, science (all areas) and keeping the communities I'm involved with - both real-world and online - vibrant and healthy.
Oh, and I love gherkins.
