About James Samuel
I have been supporting the Transition Towns movement in New Zealand, Aotearoa since October 2007, and have had the great pleasure of seeing it grow from less than a handful of initiatives to this list of communities you can find on the national website.
I am delighted to be able to report that the New Zealand response to TT has been steady and solid, and that it is truly a grass roots one, characterised by the qualities of self-organising, self-funding and self-responsibility.
There is no central organisation running or guiding the TT movement in NZ, not even a charitable trust or other 'legal' structure. People have gifted their time, and money as needed, to create a widely respected community-led response to the challenge of building a new society.
I post frequently on my blog on the TT site and my personal blog.
