Ian Davis

I am a Brit living in Canada and the Transition Town concept has been on my mind for a few years now with my wife and I dabbling in it while we were living in Ireland. My background that has brought me to this has seen me working as a teacher in Mexico teaching a class on sustainability , as a volunteer on a number of conservation projects in England and Ireland and as an Environmental Youth Officer for ECO-UNESCO working with schools and youth groups all across Ireland. I have worked as a manager and a business trainer for HSBC and that experience has also driven me to look at how I can transition my life as we tackle Peak Oil, gross consumerism and the major challenges that we face from our approach to life on this planet. I am excited about working on the Transition Edmonton initiative  and cannot wait to use my experience of event planning, environmental projects, adult and youth training and my personal experiences with transitioning to help connect the various local sustainable business, citizens, city council and grassroot initiatives already in the city  and bring about something fantastic in this place not so far from the Tar Sands.
