David George
About David George
David has lived in Belper for more than ten years and works in Local Government on a project that collates and disseminates housing and other data across the East Midlands. Through this he has an expert knowledge of housing conditions, domestic energy consumption and the issues around fuel poverty and deprivation. He previously worked as a housing surveyor and, as long ago as the early 1990s, oversaw the installation of internal solid wall insulation (dry lining) to a large number of terraced houses in Derby as well as a project to retrofit a house to high energy efficiency standards that was opened to the public as an energy efficiency and DIY maintenance show house.
David and his partner, Lynne, are lucky enough to have an extensive garden and are, year on year, gaining more experience and knowledge of growing fruit and vegetables. Whilst trying to live as sustainably as possible (apart from the 2 additional freezers needed to store the garden produce) David’s main interest is in helping reduce carbon emissions from houses, helping take households out of fuel poverty and looking at ways to generate renewable energy locally.
