About Amanda Bond
Who am I? I'm on a terrific journey to discover that!
I am a mother of 4 children aged between 14 & 21 - fortunate and grateful to have been 'at home' with them full-time. In the last 7 years I have explored, and continue to explore, my call to serve. To that end, I trained with Neal's Yard Remedies gaining an overview of Natural Medicine; after a break I followed a course in 'Living Anatomy' with the Craniosacral Educational Trust, (CTET), in London. This led me to a Foundation training in Craniosacral Biodynamics at the Karuna Institute, Natsworthy, Devon. This training was truly profound and life-transforming.
For health reasons, having been a long-term sufferer of CFS, I had to take some time out after my craniosacral training. This proved to be an invaluable time for reflection and integration. I enrolled on a Social Science degree in September 2009, attending Highlands College in Jersey...the course is run in conjunction with the University of Plymouth. My previous training has influenced my experience on this degree course - I try to bring in an unconventional perspective whenever I can! My studies and my search for the answers to my health issues over the years have led me to the field of Ecopsychology - an area that I wish to delve deeper into.
Last year I attended some workshops locally following the Shamanic Medicine Wheel in the Qu'ero tradition, (people from the High Andes in Peru). This journey shared many resonances with my craniosacral training and gave me clarity on many issues. Again, a connection with nature showed me the way to well-being.
Whilst carrying out some research early in the year on Ecopsychology, I linked up with David Johnson of Transition US. Not long after this I heard through a friend that there was a new initiative starting to create Jersey in Transition. I attended an initial meeting, and showing of the Transition film, but due to study commitments and family events, (my 2 eldest children are studying in Christchurch, NZ, and arrived back in NZ just a few days before the February 22 quake), I was unable to attend any other founding meetings.
As part of a reflective study for my degree I came across Inner Transition and the 'Heart & Soul' groups. This calls to me more than anything else within Transition, and following a Steering group meeting last night, May 30, I am now going to form such a group in Jersey. Any support, feedback, comments on this would be gratefully received.
