For those budding film makers within transition initiatives, here's a chance to win a Panasonic DMC GH2 camera and mic and get your movie in front of a impressive panel of judges. It's for the COP17 meeting in Durban in November 2011, and the deadline is Sunday October 23rd 2011 (uploaded films and completed online application form).
Check out the website for the competition and detailed instructions.
The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) has launched the 2011 D&C International Film Competition.
Shortlisted entries will be showcased online in October, and selected films will be chosen by a panel of high level international judges and viewer votes for screening at the D&C Conference at COP17 in Durban, South Africa.
This year's theme is resilience to climate change. We are looking for films that find innovative and compelling answers to the question: What is climate change resilience? Submit your short film for review by a targeted, worldwide audience and for viewing by experienced filmmakers, journalists and practitioners in your field.
You can submit films on any aspect of climate change resilience, resilience building or resilience in action. Animations and audio slideshows are welcome too!
There's a tension between the top-down orientation of COP17 and the bottom-up approach of transition. It'll be interesting to see how that might play out in the competition...
