Village University
About
The purpose of the Village University is to collaborate with people from around the world to design a village nearby a major city where anyone can live within the community, receive free housing, free food, free education, free child care and more by trading labor and time towards studying within various levels of a member's choosing. Members can choose between working and/or studying 2 days a week, 3 days a week, 5 days a week and more. The amount of work and/or study a member chooses determines their housing level. All other services are free.
Transportation is provided to and from the city free of charge to everyone. Members are free to come and go anytime they like, there are no restrictions on alcohol nor is there a curfew. The lifestyle in the community is made to be as comfortable as possible. If members have a job outside the community, they are not required to share any of their income. All the money a member earns is theirs to keep and spend however they see fit.
The entire community is sustainable through work done by our members and by businesses our community owns. The capital used to build the community and its businesses come from selling special membership packages that allow members who purchase them to not have any work nor study requirements and still be able to receive all services for free for the rest of their lives. Regular members can obtain the same ability through obtaining this special kind of membership by completing both education and work requirements or by working a set number of years to obtain retirement status.
Village University hopes to end poverty caused by problems with the capitalist debt-based monetary system and technological unemployment by providing people with a choice of living in comfort in a moneyless society that values technological advancement, scientific management, human innovation, comfort and freedom without having to give up on money altogether unless they choose to. Village University competes with the capitalist system on the merits of value by allowing its members open flexibility and free choice between both systems.
