About
Sustainable Pill and District (SPAD) began life as the Pill Environment Group in 2007. It became SPAD some 3 years later as an umbrella group, as sub-groups concerned with energy, transport and the transition movement were formed. Our recent projects/achievements include:
- Set up Low Carbon Gordano, a social enterprise scheme
- A SPAD sponsored candidate was elected to North Somerset Council in 2011
- Currently developing a community edible garden and children's play area
- In 2012 we organised a village food week which we plan to hold as a yearly event
- Run a regular swap stall at the monthly Community market in Pill
- Campaigned to maintain public transport and library services
- Tree planting and food tree planting project
