Riddells Creek is a town of 3,500 people in the foothills of the Macedon Ranges. After a year of awareness-raising, TTR was unleashed at our inaugural Local Food Fair on March 19, 2011. The Food Fair ran over 2 days - regular monthly Farmers Market plus speakers, a lunch made from local ingredients and cooking demonstrations by local chefs using local produce on the Saturday, and Open Food Gardens on the Sunday.
There was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere on both days and feedback from the public has been overwhelmingly positive. .
David Holmgren was one of our speakers and at the conclusion of his talk, we held a simple ceremony in which all those present planted seeds either to take home or to give to the primary school for their food garden.
