Parramatta Transition Forum 26 June 2011 (12:30 pm -5:30pm) Jubilee Room, Parramatta Town Hall 1
You are cordially invited to participate in the inaugural Parramatta Transition Forum hosted by Transition Parramatta (Inc)
This half day forum will bring together groups and individuals from the Parramatta region working towards a sustainable environment and a resilient society.
The aim of the forum is to combine our diverse individual resources, knowledge, skills and energy to make a positive impact on the future of Parramatta and beyond.
Transition Parramatta is part of the global Transition Town movement generating strategies and hope around the world in response to oil depletion and climate change. Our goal is to create resilient, cooperative and self-sufficient communities able to prosper responsibly.
We are inviting groups and individuals concerned about our future well-being to address issues such as:
Food security, Energy dependence, Climate, Ecological sustainability, Overconsumption, Biodiversity, Social inclusion, Community resilience , Caring for land, water and air, Transport, Accommodation, Governance, Trade, Arts, Education.
The key objectives of the forum are
1. Meet and connect with the people who want to co-create a more responsible, resilient and equitable community that cares for people and earth.
2. Identify a common vision which empowers us all to share our collective energy, resources, expertise and knowledge to make a significant impact.
3. Create a range of projects/initiatives/strategies which will enable us to work together to achieve measurable outcomes that inspire others.
4. Commit to specific actions which will deliver our mutually agreed outcomes.
We need you to co-create our common future. We are much more effective together than we can be separately. To make the day productive and fun we ask you to bring:
1. Visual/written description of your group to display on the day (guidelines below)
2. One minute verbal summary of your group’s goals/initiatives/needs/offers which one of you can deliver to the group during the brief introduction session. (guidelines below)
3. Willingness to participate in the processes through the day so we all benefit from your experience, knowledge and passion in building visions and actions.
4. Your own cup and some food to share for afternoon tea to keep costs down, eat better and enrich our connection.
