About

We are the Local Coordinating Hub and we serve as the coordinating centre for Transition Initiatives throughout the Malmesbury Community Area.  We're here to bring individuals and groups together, avoid duplication of effort, and act as a catalyst for change.

Rather than the traditional hierarchical structure the aim is that Transition Malmesbury will sit at the heart of a network of loosely federated groups that come together to work in partnership with each other as and when necessary. We will run our own projects but we also aim to promote successful local projects across the Community Area and to identify gaps and seek to address them.

We're committed to providing encouragement and support for these initiatives locally – so that each community can “be the change”. Let us know if you or your group is interested in forming or joining a local Transition initiative in the Malmesbury Area and we can offer practical support. Get in touch if you are already run a project so that we can work in partnership to develop a network of successful initiatives across the area.

We are a semi-autonomous part of Malmesbury and the Villages Community Area Partnership (MVCAP), a voluntary group working to take community aspirations and turn them into reality. We operate across the Malmesbury Community Area in North-West Wiltshire which consists of the parishes of Ashton Keynes, Brinkworth, Brokenborough, Charlton, Crudwell, Dauntsey, Easton Grey, Great Somerford, Hankerton, Lea & Cleverton, Leigh, Little Somerford, Luckington & Alderton, Malmesbury, Minety, Norton & Foxley, Oaksey, Sherston, Sopworth and Malmesbury St Paul Without.

MVCAP core operational costs are provided by Wiltshire Council's Malmesbury Area Board. Projects are paid for through grants and fund-raising. We work in partnership with Wiltshire Council and our relationship with them is formally established through the Community Area Partnership Agreement (see http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/council/areaboards/communityareapartnershipinfo.htm for more information).
