Kings Heath Transition Initiative
Address
About
We are a local initiative serving Kings Heath and the surrounding area, in South Birmingham (UK). Having started in May 2009 we have grown quickly and have built a strong local presence. Membership is open to anyone living in the are or with with a connection to the area.
Our activities are listed on our website www.transition.org.uk . These include 9 Carrots (fighting climate change while you shop), an Energy Saving Project (in partnership with the Energy Savings Trust as their chosen green communities project), a monthly Film Cafe or other public event (2nd Tuesday of month at Kitchen Garden Cafe), a proposal to develop a local eco-centre, work to restore a community orchard/farm in nearby Highbury Park, and maintenance of planters in the local High St (earns income and demonstrates care for the local environment). We have links to a local Grofun project led by Alys Fowler (broadcaster/writer - Gardeners World etc).
We have links with the Birmingham City Council at city and local ward level (represented on the Ward's Clean Environment Committee) and also with Kings Heath Business Association and Kings Heath Town Centre Partnership.
