European Village is a Greek NGO that is running since few months a new project in the center of Athens (Acadimia tou Platonos area).
This project has the shape of a traditional Greek Kafaneio (Bar). All the process toward the opening of the Kafeneio is based on the Consensus decision-making. The basic group running the activities is composed by 10 persons; these are the main responsibles for specific fields of action but the group is open to other persons and supporters.
The space is actually an open social space where we will sell only biological local and fair trade products. We will aso bring on healthy food campaigns and health campaigns, informing mainly young people about the impact of chemical substancies and pollution on their body. As the Kafeneio is placed just in front of the entrance of a big public park we will also educational activities concerning environmental and sustainability issues in the park. Our aim is also to educate people of the neigborohood to take care of the park and to contribute in the growing and developement of the urban area they live in.
The Kafeneio is open to everybody to support ideas of action, to host exibitions, concerts, poetry readings, ect...
