About

Transition Adelaide Hills is forming to help our region move towards a more resilient and sustainable future.

We acknowledge the Peramangk people, traditional custodians of this land for thousands of years.

The initiating groups, Adelaide Hills Climate Action Group (www.adelaidehillsclimateaction.org) and Adelaide Hills Sustainable Communities, have hosted various film and discussion nights and taken stalls into local markets to promote awareness of climate change and related sustainability issues. Recently we hosted a community film night featuring 'Dirt:the Movie' and 'The Real Dirt on Farmer John'.

The Adelaide Hills Community Garden (www.facebook.com/adelaidehillscommunitygarden) is now starting to take shape. The aim is to provide a model for organic, biodynamic, permacultural and waterwise food gardening, to provide a venue for workshops and to swap produce - and mostly to enjoy sharing skills, food and company.

The Hills Electric Bike Project (www.facebook.com/hillselectricbikeproject) is designed to make cycling accessible to hills-dwellers through providing short-term loans of electric bike conversion kits to the members of the community. By showcasing this technology we hope to expose the Hills community to the possibilities of power-assisted cycling, and promote cycling as a form of transport.
