 We are Westmill Solar Cooperative, a community renewable enrgy project near Swindon which is aiming to become the UK's first community owned solar farm and the world's biggest community owned solar farm (www.westmillsolar.coop)....

Our project is based on the award winning Westmill Wind Cooperative, on an adjacent site, which was founded by Adam Twine 5 years ago and is now the country's largest community renewable energy project, with 2,300 members owning the site and benefitting from the income.

Community renewable projects are happening all over the country and offer community resilience and self-sufficiency, while taking power back to local people and away from the Big Six energy companies which control 99% of UK supplies. In Denmark around 25% of renewable capacity is owned by local community groups.
