Hi

During Climate week we're hoping to run a movie night in a local community/heritage centre. In transition will be one of the films and i guess there are no copyright or licence issues (we paid £90 for our copy to help with costs). However we would like to show another movie. It may be the excellent and still relevant Koyaanisqaatsi, or it may be something else from a longish list of members suggestions. If anyone has shown films like this and can advise on legal issues and/or costs for screening them then i'd love to hear from you. The proposed date is 25th March.

To get a license for 'non-theatrical screening' of a film you need to approach the distributor.

One example is Dogwoof - their films cost £80 +vat

The British Film Institute is another source - with films costing about £100 +vat

There's a list of films along with their respective screening arrangement towards the end of the Transition Initiative Primer here: www.transitionnetwork.org/resources/transition-primer.

i think we need to do more of the type of stuff like friends gathering at each other's places to watch movies.
