Help for Ex Battery Hens In Cornwall and Devon destined for slaughter
I am writing to enquire whether you/your organisation would be interested in
offering a home to some ex-battery hens. Due to the barren cage ban coming
into force in January 2012 we have a large amount of hens that need rehoming.
Obviously this is a massive task and we are desperately trying to find homes
for as many hens as possible, as those we cannot rescue will go to slaughter.
This would be a heartbreaking end to the lives of these hens and so we are
reaching out to compassionate members of the community to help us.
Ex-battery hens not only make great pets but also provide opportunities to
educate the public/students/etc about animal welfare, intensive farming and
where their food comes from - we recently even had some ex-batts rehomed into
Holloway prison! Caring for them is easy and an extremely rewarding and
fulfilling experience.
You can re-home as many or as few (a minimum of three)hens as you like and
we ask for a donation of £2 per hen that covers the money we pay to the
farmer, transport costs etc. Our next rehoming day is on 19 th December so if
you are interested please email me your details.
Thank you so much for your help
