Details
In October 2007 the Transition Network training team launched a two-day course, Training for Transition aimed at helping new transition initiatives to create dynamic and effective projects. This course has proved to be highly effective at helping Transition Initiatives around the world, and in many different circumstances.
We currently have a team of people in the UK who are delivering this training and the Transition Talk Training. There are also Transition Trainers in the USA, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and Holland. If you are from one of those countries and wish to train to deliver this two day course we suggest you get in touch with the Transition Trainers or the national hub in that country first. If you are from another country who doesn't yet have a Transition Training community then you are invited to register your interest via the contact form. Or download an application form from the bottom of this page.
Becoming a Transition Network Trainer
If you want to join the Transition Network team that is developing and delivering training for transition you also need to show that you have considerable experience of:
- Delivering trainings to high standards to a range of audiences
- Working in a transition project
- Be able to demonstrate that you can hold a group in a 'deepening' process. This means knowing how to hold people as they go expand their 'comfort zone'. Some of the key skills will centre around creating safety and being able to address issues that come up for individuals and in the group.
Dates and details
We are holding a Train the Trainers this autumn in Grenoble, France, see below for details. This training will enable us to create Training communities in Portugal, France, and Spain where none yet existing, and to add to out capacity in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, and Sweden. There will also be places for other parts of the world and in particular Eastern Europe. If you feel you have the relevant skills and experience, then download the application forms below which includes all necessary details on logistics and costs.
Course content
- An in depth examination of the main underlying principles of transition including systems approach, vision, resilience, why transition is both inner and outer – and viral, and the importance of inclusion and awareness raising.
- The early transition process in depth - from initiation to working groups
- Structuring a Training for Transition course including facilitation styles, aims and outcomes
- Background material: peak oil, climate change, organisational structure, change models
- Joining the Network pool of trainers - structure, agreements, support and so on.
Participants will be encouraged to share their own ideas and experience both in training methodology and in their Transition or other projects. It is strongly recommended that people who want to become a Transition Network trainer attend a Training for Transition course.
There are others ways to get involved as a trainer We recently held a Dreaming Circle, which was a collaborative learning environment which has helped to shape trainings in group work and group dynamics.
