Successful Transition Training, & What's Next

Thirty people attended a Training for Transition in our rural western Maine community last weekend.  Nineteen attendees live in the Oxford Hills, three others live just outside the Oxford Hills and identify strongly with the area.  Eight people live elsewhere in Maine, and are looking forward to supporting or beginning Transition efforts in their communities.  Many expressed gratitude for the connections made over the weekend.

Next steps:

Statewide and local regions:  We've shared contact information among all participants.  Bob O'Connor will investigate our options for easily sharing information on line, and will begin by contacting Transition US to see what's available in various formats.

Locally in the Oxford Hills:

1) Continue our monthly outreach programs (next is Sustainable Oxford Hills' presentation on global energy and local impacts)

2) Gather together an Initiating Group to carry out Transition Ingredients 2-5 (and samplings of a few others), in such a way as to honor the values and principles of the Transition movement.

All of us, where ever we are:

I paraphrase what I heard during the weekend:  Continue to support each other in this work.  Observe our world and those with whom we share it.  Be willing to change others, compassionately and humbly.  Be willing to be changed.
