Widget options and design wireframes

Following the early information and tech design meetings, the Transition Technologists have started the 'Interface' design work for the Project Sharing Engine widgets. Good work all!

You will find attached to this blog post two documents:

1. Widget options

There will be three options: 

• Basic (as stands): chronologically ordered 'latest projects' listing: links back to TN.org
• Small (tabbed): limited interaction, enable users to search by location or theme, 2 tabs maximum: links back to TN.org
• Large (full page): richer interaction, include maps and more: users can stay on webmaster's site

Webmasters will be able to choose any one of these for their websites with an easy form on the Transition Network website and embed them on their own sites with minimal fuss.

2. Wireframes for adding a project through a widget

There will be one process for adding a project through a widget. This will keep it simple, and located within the overall moderation flow. This will be an 'overlay' which will roll out over the Initiative's website. It will be designed so that it could run on any website, on a computer or mobile phone or 'tablet' computer.

The purpose of the 'adding a project' widget is to collect information from the 'field' as quickly and enjoyably as possible.

This information can then be easily approved by the webmaster, making it 'live', and it can then be edited on the main Transition Network site by the person who added it, where we have a smoother and carefully crafted interface to make the project easy to find and relevant to others in various ways.
