Twibbons
Chris Wells from TT Kensal to Kilburn has put together a proposed design for some 'twibbons' for Transitioner twitter users and would like some feedback.
For those who don't know - 'twibbons' are little pictures you add to your twitter picture indicating you are very keen on something. They are very popular with campaigners as they raise awareness of causes (just like a badge on your coat).
He thinks a little leaf emblem with the word 'Transition' would look neat. Here are a few mock-ups. They are of individuals and a logo:

What do you reckon? Any thoughts?

Love the twibbon
5 August 2010 - 12:11pm — Mark BrownOK - it's great - how soon can we get one please? How do you expect to roll this out? Will you make a GIF available to the masses? We'd use one with our logo @TTWycombe.

the 'twibbon' itself is just the bar at the bottom with the leaf and the word. It overlays onto whatever twitter profile image you have (hence the overlay on people's faces is from their profile pictures).
yeah the logo one is a corker isn't it?

Ed's right
7 August 2010 - 12:26am — AnonymousHi Mike,
Ed's right. That logo is from an initiative so it won't look like that. You'd still get to keep your own face. Twibbons are basically a way of adding a badge to your little Twitter or Facebook photo to show you support something (a football team/cause etc).
Their website explains this better.
Basically, if you have a photo of yourself on Twitter or Facebook, you can visit their site, click a few buttons and have a Transition badge (basically the little leaf logo and wording) stuck over the top of the photo. They're a well-known way of promoting a cause and I thought Transition might benefit.
Does everyone like the effect? I haven't kept to the brand guidelines strictly - they don't mention anything like this so I had to guess. If anyone knows the Transition brand-police, let me know and I can check with them down at the station.

5 August 2010 - 12:55pm — Ed MitchellHi Mark,
it's Chris' work not mine, so I can't say exactly when, but when they do come out, anyone will be able to add the twibbon to their twitter profile image. I reckon we'll see them out and about in September - along with the new patterns directory, events directory and other cool stuff :)

When to roll out
7 August 2010 - 12:34am — AnonymousHi Mark,
I can have this on the www.twibbon.com site for you to apply over the weekend if you like. I just wanted to get a few opinions from the experts about it first since you'll be the ones wearing one.
So you don't think it's too much then?

Great idea
11 August 2010 - 3:50pm — Richard BarnettLove the idea Chris - will definitely use it for New Forest Transition....

I really like 'em, simple and
5 August 2010 - 4:20pm — Shaun ChamberlinI really like 'em, simple and clear - it's a shame that mine covers up my book, but I could just recrop the picture I guess ... look forward to having a go with it when it's ready :)
Maybe it would be nice to have a vertical and horizontal version, so that people could put it wherever they wanted on their profile pic? Or maybe that would damage the brand identity *spit*
lol, I'll leave such ponderings to those more artistically/branding minded than myself

Groovy
20 August 2010 - 9:45pm — Shelby TayHello all! the twibbon looks great! I like that it's nice and simple.. and transparent :)
Thanks for putting it together. We @TransitionUS and I @shelbytay will definitely use it.

Twibbons are ready
15 September 2010 - 6:54am — Ed MitchellI'll write a proper blog post about this later this morning, but here we go:
