Rob Hopkins Pattern Language workshop recording and photos
Rob is re-inventing the Transition Handbook as a Pattern Language, and is calling for all interested transitioners to take part. We'll hear much more about this in due course, but in the meantime, here's the recording of the workshop:
Thanks to Chris from Sheffield for recording Rob's workshop on co-creating the 'pattern language' that will make up the next Transition Handbook

2nd generation Alexander patterns
6 September 2010 - 4:18am — Nicholas Roberts (not verified)hi
Christopher Alexander has moved onto 2nd generation patterns in the Nature of Order
he talks now about generative sequences and compares 1st generation patterns as in A Pattern Language with 2nd generation patterns as in Nature of Order
1st generation = patterns
2nd generation = generative sequences
patterns can be consider menus of items or dishes at a restaurant, generative sequences can be considered recipes
generative sequences are much more complicated and are the reason why A Pattern Language basically failed as a project
