Energy not just carbon
17 June 2010 - 9:55am — Mandy MeikleHi - I haven't looked at ZCB for a while but have started a blog trying to get some discussion on the energy crisis (http://mandymeikle.wordpress.com/). It seems that only Transitioners get that it's about climate change AND peak oil. I give talks on energy and have seen a tendancy for Transition to lean more towards tackling climate change (maybe it's because there's more grants available?). But the Deepwater disaster has got the mainstream thinking about peak oil more (although some comments are just plain daft!).
Anyway, I am writing a book called Net Energy in a Nutshell to try to get some basic energy facts out there (e.g. to politicians, media, policy makers). As you know, to focus on carbon reductions results in clean coal, nuclear power, hydrogen cars and biofuels being seen as the solution, which they are not. Please comment on my blog, if you have time, as I'm really keen to get some real honesty into the energy debate.
